Transformation – What Does It Take?

Before photo: corporate life               After photo: living a life of passion

Margie Bryant - corporate daysKELV1419-Edited_al

Transformation – What does it take?
I was making reasonable income at my job.
I dreaded Sunday nights.
I felt tired and stressed.
I was a carbohydrate junkie and had trouble sleeping.
I had forgotten to dream.
I felt trapped.😈🤢
Some people call it the golden handcuffs. 😥Addicted to being paid just enough to keep me at a job sacrificing my quality of life.🤐

The fear of change paralysed me and for many years I plodded on🚵‍♀️🚵‍♀️🚵‍♀️🚵‍♀️

However, I hit a wall of burn-out🏢🏢🏢🏢🏢😭😭

I felt overwhelmed, fearful, hopeless.
My life was in chaos and tatters.

I had reached a point that I knew:
If things were going to change…..it was up to me to change.🔥

What is it that you want to achieve in your life?

I knew if I got another job there was no security and the same stresses.

I wanted flexibility in my time.
I wanted to have money coming in each week no matter where I was in the world.✈️🏖🎧
I wanted to positively contribute to the world and positively impact the lives of countless numbers of other people.😄

I was so grateful I had a Plan B which was an online business…and I knew the future is online.🎧🙏

I now have time freedom.⛱🏋🏽👠✈️🔥
I have financial independence.💥🔥
We enjoy the healthiest version of ourselves.
We live our passion and delight in helping as many people as we can design their lives and live their passion.
What lifestyle do you want for 2018 and beyond?

My Health Defining Moment – Why Do We Take Health for Granted?

Mother and father

My defining moment was when I experienced the pain of watching my mother suffer from a heart attack and the utter terror and fear of losing her.

When my mother was 46 years of age, a leading heart specialist said to her “Do you know you can drop dead any minute”. She looked him in the eye and said “Did you know that you can too”. The irony of the story is that the doctor that spoke with her died within 6 months in his forties. The difference being that she knew she had a heart condition and he didn’t.
I had been trained at a very early age (aged four) to call an ambulance if anything was awry with my mother as everyone appreciates the first symptom of a heart attack can be fatal.
I would pray to God not to take my mother while I was young. I prayed to at least leave her with us (4 children in the family and I was the youngest child) until I was 16 and could look after myself.
Rheumatic fever had indeed weakened my mother’s heart but THANKFULLY, she knew she was responsible for her own health and taught us the same way and she changed everything in her life….her diet…the choices of what she ate….she refused anything with white flour and white sugar, introduced a daily walking exercise program into her life, and sourced the highest quality supplements she could find. Due to her simple lifestyle changes, she lived until 91 (and died while talking with my two sisters) and my father died aged 96.
Interestingly, she went to the funeral of four of her cardiologists in her life journey.
Her journey and her suffering has changed everything in me. Firstly, I was raised on what eating healthy means. I was raised on the importance of fitness and taking high-grade nutritional supplements and what important role they play in prevention of lifestyle diseases. I was also raised on the importance of a spiritual life.
I am ever so grateful for this foundation.
My heart aches when I see so many lifestyle diseases and unnecessary suffering in the world such as heart attacks, strokes, cancer, Diabetes Type 2, asthma, and will do everything in my power through education and empowerment of others to do something about it.
They say the fear of loss is the greatest motivator to take action.
Just imagine for a second what would be taken away from you or your family if you became debilitated from a lifestyle disease such as a heart attack or a stroke.

Hence why my unwavering passion for true health for everyone and my unwavering passion for providing your cells with the right nutrition (along with a good diet) on a daily basis. If you are looking for the highest rated supplements to help with prevention of the lifestyle diseases we see increasingly in our world, I highly recommend USANA Health Sciences supplements.

How valuable is your health? Do you do everything you can to prevent the diseases of our modern lifestyle in your body?

It All Starts With Why

health-and-wellbeing-self-discovery-magazineWeight loss 2016

How would it make you feel if you woke up energetic, you looked younger, your skin was more radiant, and you had lost weight?
How would you like to lose weight without going on those yo-yo diets?
What would that be worth to you?
In my own journey, when I worked in an office, driving to work each day, sitting at a computer for most of the day, driving home, sitting again to relax, my weight crept up over time. 1 kilo here, 1 kilo there, 1 kilo extra over time. I had become a carbohydrate junkie. A muffin with a coffee break for a quick pick-me-up at morning tea etc.
I remember going to my doctor at one stage and she said it would be a good idea to lose a little weight. I returned one year later and I was the same weight.
I then realised there was more to it than meets the eye.
I started my research and learnt much more about low-glycaemic foods to eat and sourced a science-based program.
The most important part for me was to reverse weight creep, to lose abdominal fat around my middle and around my vital organs, and transform my eating habits.
I started a program and joined in the incentives and was one of several winners in a weight loss challenge to lose 3% of my weight over 1 week and 9 weeks later was one of several winners to lose 5% of my weight.
I now coach people how to achieve losing a few kilos in weight or more than 30 kilos in weight and people have achieved remarkable results.
I am incredibly thankful to offer a science-based approach to weight management that truly works not those yo-yo diets where you put the weight back on.
By following the USANA Health Sciences weight management program myself, I am healthier, have abundant energy, a raised self-esteem, and achieved my optimum body mass index for my height.
And you can too. What are you waiting for? Contact me I will be happy to get you started so you too can lose weight and look younger.

5 tips for healthy looking skin

Protection

One of the most important ways to take care of your skin is to protect it from the sun.

A lifetime of sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems.

For the most complete sun protection:

  • Use sunscreen.
  • Seek shade. Avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., when the sun’s rays are strongest.
  • Wear protective clothing. Cover your skin with tightly woven long-sleeved shirts, long pants and wide-brimmed hats.

Treat your skin gently

Daily cleansing and shaving can take a toll on your skin. To keep it gentle:

  • Limit bath time. Hot water and long showers or baths remove oils from your skin. Limit your bath or shower time, and use warm — rather than hot — water.
  • Avoid strong soaps. Strong soaps and detergents can strip oil from your skin. Instead, choose mild cleansers and soap-free products if you can.
  • Shave carefully. To protect and lubricate your skin, apply shaving cream, lotion or gel before shaving. For the closest shave, use a clean, sharp razor. Shave in the direction the hair grows, not against it.
  • Pat dry. After washing or bathing, gently pat or blot your skin dry with a towel so that some moisture remains on your skin.
  • Moisturize dry skin.

Eat a healthy diet

A healthy diet can help you look and feel your best. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. The association between diet and acne isn’t clear — but some research suggests that a diet rich in vitamin C and low in unhealthy fats and processed or refined carbohydrates might promote younger looking skin.

Get plenty of sleep

Your skin restores itself at night so maximize your sleep and seek at least 7 hours of sleep every night.

Manage stress

Uncontrolled stress can make your skin more sensitive and trigger acne breakouts and other skin problems. To encourage healthy skin — and a healthy state of mind — take steps to manage your stress. Set reasonable limits, scale back your to-do list and make time to do the things you enjoy. The results might be more dramatic than you expect.

Do you get paid for your recommendations? Do you have multiple streams of income?

Are you paid in multiple ways each week? Do You have An Entrepreneurial Mindset?

When was the last time you were paid for recommending a movie, or a great restaurant?

Restaurant

Every time we recommend products we use and love ourselves, we receive a word-of-mouth bonus.

Previously in my job, there always seemed to be not enough flexibility in my budget or my time to do the amount of traveling that I enjoyed.

Thankfully, I now have great financial and time flexibility (I traveled for 3 months last year overseas) and still received a weekly income and have multiple ways of earning an income for lifelong adventures!

Swimming – lessons learnt for achieving success in life

swimming

I was a former champion swimmer. And the below lessons were taught by a former champion swimmer and coach and I thought I would share them with you as they were invaluable lessons to me. Did you know that swimming can provide you with the tools you need for achieving success later in life?

I am not talking about time management and sportsmanship, although those two things are super important.

The following life lessons aren’t things you can put on your resume, and they aren’t taught in a classroom. They are dished out in the school of hard knocks, and if you pay enough attention over the course of your career, you can unleash these lessons to achieve success in whatever endeavor you choose.

Here are 5 valuable life lessons to draw from the countless hours spent swimming:

Making big improvements requires patience.

Patience has never been something I have been all that good with. Once I decide that I want something, if there is not significant and immediate progress visible quickly I tend to get rather frustrated. I want my awesome swimming goals and I want them five minutes ago.

In watching fellow swimmers over the years I suspect that I am far from alone in this respect.

Often what will result is that you will create a list of unrealistic expectations that match up to the lofty stuff you want to accomplish. Things like having perfect workouts every time out. Or seeing improvement every single session. Or pushing yourself too soon, too fast.

Long term progress requires patience in the short term.

You gotta be able to paddle before you can swim.

Having those big lofty goals is necessary to achieve success in the pool. You need to have that compass that provides you with direction and purpose over the course of a long season in the pool.

Sometimes those big goals can be our worst enemy, however.

With the excitement of achieving big things on our minds, our veins pumping with excitement and drive, we hurtle headfirst towards our goals with reckless abandon. Overcome with enthusiasm we assume that we can skip the beginning steps, that because we deserve it, because we are more talented, or because we simply don’t have the time for the necessary work.

Taking baby steps can be infuriatingly too slow for some people, but successful swimmers know that this slow grind provides a cumulative effect that makes a massive dent in the mid and long term.

Success in the pool – and life – is achieved step by step, mistake by mistake, small win by small win.

You’re not going to win every time.

One of the quickest ways to see how people deal with the peaks and valleys in life is to watch them have a bad race.

Do they quietly pout back to the stands, foregoing warm-down and giving up on the rest of the meet? Do they punch the touch pad and storm off inconsolably? Or do they walk back to coach, head down, but resolved to bounce back?

You are going to have bad races. There are going to be times where life just doesn’t seem fair, where you should have won but didn’t, those performances that weren’t reflective of the work and commitment you had invested in the water.

The question then becomes, equally in the pool as it applies to life outside of the lane lines—how will you bounce back? What will you do to make that particular setback the best thing to ever happen to you?

Results come because you are good a lot, not because you are perfect sometimes.

I will admit that I have caught myself wearing the perfectionist outlook numerous times over the years.

I mistakenly told myself that every workout had to be a 10/10, took the bad swims personally, and valued myself far too much on what I accomplished in the pool.

The reality is this: Not every workout will go perfectly. Not every race will go according to plan. Mistakes will happen. And your self-esteem should not entirely rest on what you do with your swimming.

When we learn to chase greatness instead of perfection in the pool and in life we discover that we are more resilient to failure by creating more realistic goals. By chasing 8’s and 9’s in practice we make far more progress as opposed to expecting every workout be an elusive (and impossible) 10. Chase goals that are challenging, yet realistic, the accomplishment of which pushes us ever further.

It’s all mental.

Swimming, and sport, provides an exceptional proving ground for testing your mental limits.

I cannot count how many times I watched coach write a set up on the board (“oh wow…and he is going to put brackets around that thing too?”) and felt myself inwardly cower, mind racing, with thoughts of how badly I was going to die over the course of the set.

But then what happened? I got in. Started the set, and talked myself through it. “Hey, this isn’t so bad.” A little bit later: “Okay, halfway done.” And finally, “I am going to complete this routine for sure.”

The reality is you never know how shockingly tough you are until you are in the soup, crushing that set even though mere minutes prior you were mentally quivering in your swimsuit. This carries really well into the other challenges you will face in the course of your life. Things like writing a book. Taking on large projects at work. Starting a family.

We always think we aren’t capable, that swimming or life finally has our number, but believe it or not, you will always be as strong as you need to be.

4 Steps to Release Your Limiting Beliefs

First discover them. Write the limiting beliefs down. Play detective and follow your thoughts and emotions that hold you back. Put them on paper and stare them in the face. Stop sabotaging yourself. Look back on your life and notice how often you have gone through the same experience and the same patter. What are the results you are producing from the pattern. Are the results in alignment with what you really want to be, do and have. If not, check out how you can arrive at different results via my Facebook Lives at:

Why Do People Get Stuck in a 45 Year Job?

I grew up surrounded by the philosophy of go to school, get good grades so you can go to university and get a good job.

One of the main reasons I worked during my life was to earn an income to pay for all the things that I needed or wanted. I enjoy traveling a lot which comes at a cost. I also wanted to pay off my home and live my dreams, follow my passions and have a life full of adventure.

The pension in Australia is about $32,417 for a couple or $21,505 for a single person. This is great but not enough for our long-term needs.

The concept of becoming an entrepreneur and having a number of ways of earning an income appealed – especially income that could be recurring and that we could leverage from our efforts rather than our time.

Choice Not Chance

One of the many joys of my lifestyle is the flexibility in my time and ability to travel to my favourite destinations around the world and having a healthy balance in life.

I recently visited highlight places in Hawaii including Kauai and Honolulu and then California, Arizona, Utah and Idaho in the USA.

Diamond Head, Hawaii

Whenever I travel I am filled to the brim with experiences of connecting with friends, meeting new people, enjoying different cuisine, absorbing nature in all its beauty.

I am also struck by the fact that it is our choices not chance that determine our destination in our inner journeys as well as our outer journeys. Travel is a great time to reflect on all the daily choices we make: to look after our health and treat it as number one in priority, to manage our stress levels, to ensure we schedule great holidays with our loved ones, and to care for our planet.

Live Life to Its Fullest

I am deeply grateful for all the close and loving relationships in my life. It is my joy to be able to travel to see my friends throughout the world, to share with them special moments, and be inspired by their stories.

I have a passion for connecting with people and being of service in the world.

Chilling out in America

Chilling out in America

For me, life is about experiencing as much as I can from all different cultures and backgrounds and being open to learning, self-development and personal growth.

As one of my dearest friends says life is not about “doing” it is about “being”. Simply BE your unique self! We are human beings not human doings.

Live a Heart-Centred Adventurous Life

I have hot air ballooned, water skied, rock-climbed, rafted down wild rivers.

I’ve also visited 21 of the world’s countries and circled the globe. I have great passion for people, nature, and different cultures.

Hot air ballooning

It is an absolutely amazing world out there filled with beautiful people and dazzling wonders that are readily available for you to experience. If you want to experience it all, you just have to make a decision, set some goals, and make it happen. The gift is much fun, enjoying every second, and a well-lived life!

Making Time for the Little Things That Ignite Your Joy

I had a great trip recently to the south-west of Western Australia. There was an abundance of wildflowers out after record rains for the month including a plethora of blue leschenaultia, a wildflower only found in Western Australia.

I am a firm believer that wellness in body, mind and spirit are interconnected. For me, I am passionate about people, travel, wildflowers, photography, bush walking, swimming, yoga, meditation, bike riding, and health. So I make sure that I make time to have these joys in life.

What are your joys? Make sure you get enough of them in your daily life!

Establish a replenishing inner “state of home”.

Be at home

Be at home in your own body

Balance in life is so important and it is great to be able to concentrate on creating a “state of home” inside you.

Being in the bush helps me to relax, nourishes, and replenishes me. I feel at home in the country and deeply connected to observing and listening to the stories of the evolving natural world.

I love yoga, meditation and swimming for the same reason. They are activities that give me a great sense of being at home. What makes you feel in a state of being ‘home’?

The Quieter You Become, the More You Are Able To Hear

The Quieter You Become, the More You Are Able To Hear

If you’re finding it more challenging than ever to juggle the demands of your job and the rest of your life, you’re not alone.

New research shows that nearly one in five Australians works 10 or more hours each week than their job requires. And the extra time in the office is taking its toll on their wellbeing. Fifty per cent of working women struggle to balance the demands of work and family life.

Many people are putting in extra hours. However, even during a hectic day, you can take half an hour to do something that will recharge your batteries.

Making time to exercise – like walking, bike riding, going to the gym – is vital. So is time to relax. Taking up a relaxing practice that suits you is crucial to balance a busy mind and reduces the stresses in your life by giving you other perspectives. Some examples are meditation, Tai Chi, yoga – or even gardening or cooking.

Smart People Do this One Special Thing to Get Rich

95% of the population just survive and feel full of fear, tired and depressed and settle for average, what if I can’t type of mentality.

All our dreams are outside of our comfort zone. This includes our financial and time freedom, our confidence, our success, our wealth, our beliefs, our passions.

Smart people do this one special thing and say what if I can and then find out how. Call me today, find a helping hand, and get started!

Helping One Another

Helping One Another

Work Smart – Not Hard

If a CEO of a company earns a $1 million a year, and a gardener earns $10,000 a year, does this mean that the CEO works 100 times harder? Did the CEO put in 100 times more hours a week?

I doubt if a CEO can work a 400 hour week. Why is it that some people earn much more than others? Everyone still has 24 hours in the day.

#Ways To Provide More Service.

The CEO has found ways to provide more service, to be more efficient…..ways to lead others to more productivity. In other words, the CEO produces more value in the same allocated time.

If we wish to receive more income, we must find ways of working smarter, not harder.

Serving One Another

Serving One Another

Building a Pipeline

If I needed a one-mile-ditch excavated, and was willing to pay $10,000, you could apply for the job.
You could take a trusty shovel and begin digging. At the end of one year the ditch would be completed. For that one-mile ditch, I would then pay $10,000 because you have performed $10,000 worth of service.

On the other hand, a friend of yours could apply for the job. Your friend then rents a ditch-digging machine for $100 and finishes the ditch in one day. Has he also provided $10,000 worth of service?

Who worked smart and who worked hard?

Working for someone else is working hard, and having your own part-time business is working smart.

At What Cost?

A young mother decides to get a full-time job to pay the many bills that come with raising a family.

Today's Financial Reality

Today’s Financial Reality

There are many sacrifices she must make:

1. She will be away from the house for 8 – 10 hours a day. Housework and meals will suffer.
2. The children will no longer have the advantage of a full-time mother at home.
3. She will miss the wonderful experience of helping the children develop.
4. There is less quality time with her family, as evenings are spent catching up on household duties.
5. But in return for these sacrifices, she finds a job paying $5,000 a month. Does she have financial empowerment? After deductions, what is she really earning and at what cost?

Starting your own home-based, low cost, no risk business is a better way to be financially empowered.

#Create Your Own Day and How To Achieve Financial Independence

Do you have a bad boss? One of those bad ordinary bosses who fails to give direction and recognition.

Those are low stress bad bosses.

Or maybe, you’ve got the type of bad boss who changes direction, blames others, and verbally assaults your self-esteem – every day.

Either way, it is so much better being your own boss! You get an opportunity to be paid what you are worth. You are rewarded for your effort. You have a chance to work on your own dream and not work on dreams for others. You can work on your own financial independence plan and through self-education and work achieve financial freedom and create many entrepreneurial opportunities for others.

Healthy Balance in Life

It is wonderful to have swims in the ocean and long talks and walks on the beach and coffee catch ups with friends whenever I choose to.

Office at the Beach

Mobile office looking at the Beach in Perth

I am glad to have the opportunity to reflect and work on strategies to achieve my goals for this year. One of my key aims is maintaining a positive attitude, and a healthy balance in life.

Gratitude for the Gift of Vision

The moment I saw the Grand Canyon…… I cried.

You can hear stories, you can read about it, but the magic in seeing and experiencing such an extraordinary natural wonder for yourself is unbelievable.

The sheer grandeur and beauty literally took my breath. It was a moment of truth that underneath the level of physical appearances and separate forms, you realise that you are one with all that is.

Northern Rim, Grand Canyon

Northern Rim, Grand Canyon

I am deeply grateful for the gift of vision. There have been so many precious sights I have seen in my travels that I will never forget – from the majestic fjords of Norway to the colour-drenched bustle of a Mexican marketplace. From the tropical paradise of the islands of Indonesia to the dramatic landscapes of China. A picture in extraordinary places is worth a thousand words. How blessed I feel from having seen and experienced magical places in my life.

And there are so many more places in the world to see……

How To Keep Your Digestive System Healthy

Hong Kong is known for its fine dining and I love to explore different culinary wonders whenever I travel.

It is estimated there is one restaurant or cafe for every 600 people, or around 12,000 eateries in this area of 1100 square kilometres housing seven million people. Compare that to 33,000 eateries in Australia’s 7.7 million square kilometres.

Visitors can thank the Hong Kongers’ love of food for some sublime taste sensations. They tend to live in small spaces and work long hours. So meal times are exercises in multi-tasking: socialising, relaxing, as well as nourishment of the body and soul.

I had the privilege to dine in many great eateries when I was in Hong Kong, including Maxim’s Chinese Cuisine Restaurant.

The vegetables were cooked to perfection and I enjoyed, as a special treat, Peking duck served with great flair and style.

Maxim's Chinese cuisine in Hong Kong

Maxim’s Chinese cuisine in Hong Kong

When I am travelling, I am trying so many different foods and I am away from my normal routine.

To assist me, my daily ritual is to ensure I have my top-of-the-range nutritionals, a probiotic, morning nutritious fruits and a protein shake with fibre.

Dietary fibre is needed to keep the digestive system healthy. It also contributes to other processes, such as stabilising glucose and cholesterol levels in your body. In countries with traditionally high-fibre diets, diseases such as bowel cancer, diabetes and coronary heart disease are much less common than in Western countries.

I like to be in optimum health at all times so I can live life in happiness and health and travel to fabulous destinations.
